After each Challenge, you'll complete a reflection asking (1) What you've done, (2) What you've learned, and (3) How you'll use this in your classroom.

Challenge #1~~~~ Using the Safari Web Browser

Safari is the pre-installed web browser to view the Internet on an iPad.

Skills to Learn:
  • Entering a web address in the address bar
  • Searching using the search box
  • Setting Bookmarks and organizing them into folders
  • Adding a web clip button the the homescreen

#1 Set a Web Clip Homescreen Button
  1. Go to Electronic Library of Minnesota at    www.elm4you.org
  2. Click on the Students tab on the left-->Databases for You-->Elementary school
  3. Select and open one of the encyclopedias appropriate for your grade level.
  4. Set a web clip/button for this on your homescreen.
  5. Move this web clip/button to your Reference folder.
#2 Find 3-4 (or more)  web sites you use or might use in  your classroom.  These might be research sites for students or teacher resources.
  1. Set bookmarks at these sites.
  2. Organize your bookmarks into folders.   
#3 Bonus Challenges
  1. Check the browser history on your iPad
  2. In the System Settings, go to  GeneralAccessiblity -->Speak Selection
  3. Explore the options Speak Selection offers.  Here are some tips.
